Technological Trends that will Re-shape the Future

There is much talk of new normal, about how the world will adapt with regards to controlling the spread of COVID-19 until a vaccine or adequate therapist are found before we return to something like the pre-lockdown life. There is no doubt that the COVID -19 pandemic will come to an end. However, what will stay with us after this period is a fear of mingling with others or the need to wear a face mask.

As the ripple of COVID-19 runs around the globe, it is forcing humankind to innovate and change the way we work and live. Technologies are transforming our job, businesses, and even our societies.

Technologies which will reshape the existing IT world are following -

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning
  • The Internet of things (IoT)
  • Cloud computing
  • 3D printing

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Artificial Intelligence(AI) and machine learning refer to the ability of machines to learn and act intelligently as humans. They are capable of making decisions, carrying out tasks, and predicting the future based on what they learn from data. AI is playing a very big role in transforming our world. It is already used in our everyday life from Google search to personalized suggestions we get from Amazon shopping, Spotify, and Netflix.

Artificial intelligence(AI) and machine learning are the foundation for many other technology trends such as seeing (facial recognition), writing(Chabot), and speaking(Alexa).

The impact of AI is already felt in a wide range of industries from banking and retail to farming and manufacturing. In the current situation, AI is playing a big role in the health care sector. AI  began to identify disease, helping health care providers and their patients for better treatments and decision making.

Automation is implemented in many industries because machines are becoming more intelligent and they can carry out more tasks. Because of this, there is a great fear of losing jobs among humans. No doubt that automation will lead to the displacement of many jobs but it will create many new jobs also.

The Internet Of Things

The Internet of Things(IoT) refers to the increasing number of everyday devices and objects that are connected to the internet to gather and transmit data. These days, everything is getting smarter such as smartphones, smartwatch, etc. These smart devices are rapidly changing our world and the way we live in the key part of AI is the ability to connect and share information with each other. These devices are constantly gathering and transmitting data via the internet. Think of how a fitness tracker can sync with an app on your phone and many are capable of carrying out tasks autonomously.

One example of IoT in action is a smart thermostat that intelligently regulates the temperature of your home. Amazon Echo, smart speaker, smart home security system are some examples of IoT. These days we can make any smart such as smart toaster, smart toilet, etc.

According to Business Insider Intelligence prediction, there will be more than 64 billion connected devices globally by 2026. IoT involves the tracking of one or more of four main areas such as goods, assets, people, and processes. IoT helps organizations to increase productivity and bring transparency across the channels using interconnected, intelligent, and safe devices.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing can be defined as delivery of on-demand computing services such as servers, networking, databases for storage on a pay as you go basis. Earlier before cloud computing, organizations need to own computing infrastructures or data centers. Now a company can rent servers, databases, etc from different cloud providers which avoid the maintenance and complexity of its own infrastructure. Deployment models in cloud computing are Public cloud, Private cloud, and Hybrid cloud.

The different types of cloud computing :

Software-as-a-service(SaaS)

Software-as-a-service leases applications and software owned by service providers to their client.

Infrastructure-as-a-service(IaaS)

Infrastructure-as-a-service provides virtualized resources over the internet.

Platform-as-a-service(PaaS)

Platform-as-a-service provides customers to deploy applications using programming languages, tools, etc provided by the cloud providers.

The advantage of cloud computing is that it has the ability to use software from any of the devices such as browsers or mobile apps. Users can access cloud storage from anywhere and store files using services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. Organizations can use cloud from different cloud providers and should only pay for what is used which means that no need to purchase the infrastructure as earlier.

Different cloud providers available are Amazon web services (AWS), Google cloud platform, Microsoft Azure, VMware, IBM cloud.

3D Printing

3D printing or additive manufacturing can be defined as the process of generating a 3-dimensional solid object from a file. This process can be generated by initially laying down successive layers of materials until the object is generated. These layers are thinly sliced horizontal cross-sections of the eventual object. In traditional methods, it requires more materials to create an object. In 3D printing, even complex objects can be created using lesser materials.

There are different software available for 3D printing and one of the recommended ones is tinkered which is free and works in all browsers without even installing them on your computer. After the 3D model is ready, the file for 3d printing should be prepared and is called slicing. Slicing is done using slicing software where the 3D objects are divided into hundreds and thousands of horizontal layers. After the slicing process, it is now ready for printing.

Conclusion

Technology is evolving faster than ever. Companies and individuals that don’t keep up with some of the major tech trends run the risk of being left behind. Our world is changing dramatically as our global community deals with COVID-19. While the experience is far from easy, it is building resilience and extending our minds to see new possibilities. With crisis comes we are getting an opportunity to grow, change, and do better.

The future of work will be based on the above-mentioned technologies. This is becoming a part of our work-life after COVID-19  subsides. We Spawoz technologies are also in the path of technological advancement and also focussing to help our clients according to their requirements We are emerging with a competitive advantage in the next normal which is developing us to make scenarios on how demand will evolve and mechanisms that recognize what becomes reality.
